What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Our servers also contain logs regarding pages access, visitor's IP address and web browser user agent string. Logs show the IP of the source request of the information, we do not use this information to identify individuals, but generate aggregate data for understanding file distribution optimisation and to identify system threats and spammers.

We do this to provide the best experience we can, whilst still respecting individual privacy. We collect usage information of our site to analyze interest in content and to provide advertisers information on an aggregate basis. No personally identifiable information will be shared with third-party advertising companies.

User Data, User Content

If you create a post, leave a comment (including by not limited to bug report, feature requests) or complete a form, that data and it's metadata are retained indefinitely. For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We collect this data and also the visitor’s IP address and web browser user agent string string to identify system threats and spammers.

Many servers have logs and chat is logged. Logs are generally consider public information and public space.

Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. By uploading images you grant a license to use that image on the website and as part of other promotional material.

Account Linking
Where social media account logins are used (Facebook, Twitter, Patreon), we only fetch minimal information to create your account profile and authenticate you as a user. This in only done if you choose to use that as a login method and is also subject to that platforms Privacy Policy.

Information collected
GamerGeeks does not collect personal information about you except for the information that you voluntarily provide. Some information maybe held in chat logs where users volunteer information.

Community
When using our online community functions, your user ID will identify you.

Cookies

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a cookie to remember you and keep you logged in. This cookie contains no personal data, but links you to your the account.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. This includes YouTube videos.

Caching

We use CloudFlare to help provide a fast page content delivery and build a robust system. Cloudflare works as a proxy and a cdn with caching, it also provides some aggregate traffic data (similar Google Analytics) of which we are unable to identify individual users.

This site utilises caching in order to facilitate a faster response time and better user experience. Caching potentially stores a duplicate copy of every web page that is on display on this site. All cache files are temporary and are never accessed by any third party, except as necessary to obtain technical support from the cache plugin vendor. Cache files expire on a schedule set by the site administrator, but may easily be purged by the admin before their natural expiration, if necessary.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have created/uploaded content, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Google Adsense and the DoubleClick DART Cookie
